HairWhim — Privacy Policy

HairWhim ("the app") is a hairstyle preview app. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.

Photos, face data & AI processing

To create your looks, the selfie you take or choose is sent securely (HTTPS) to our server and then to Google's Gemini API (Google LLC), for the sole purpose of generating your hairstyle previews — never for advertising, and never shared with any other third party.
HairWhim does not perform facial recognition, face mapping, or biometric identification of any kind, and it does not create faceprints.
We do not retain your input photo or face data: your selfie is used only to generate your results and is then discarded. We store no face data, because it is not appropriate to store face data at all for this feature to work.
Generated result images are kept on our server for up to 7 days (so the app can download them), then deleted automatically. Looks you save are stored in the app on your own device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
Google's handling: for paid Gemini API usage, Google states it does not use your content to train its generative models; Google may retain content transiently for abuse monitoring as described in its terms. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Your consent: before any photo is sent, the app discloses this and asks for your permission.

Accounts & your data

HairWhim does not require an account. The app uses a random device identifier (containing no personal information) to keep your credits on our server. You can permanently erase everything stored for your device — remaining credits and generated images — anytime via Settings → Delete My Data in the app, or by emailing us.

Credits

Generation credits in this version are free and cannot be purchased. They are tracked on our server against your anonymous device identifier.

Data we collect

We do not collect your name, email, contacts, or location. The app stores only an anonymous device identifier with its credit balance, plus the images described above. It does not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs and does not track you across apps or websites.

Camera & photo library

The app asks for camera access only when you tap "Take Selfie" and photo-library access only when you tap "Upload Photo".

Children

HairWhim is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If a future version of HairWhim introduces accounts or purchases, or changes how photos are processed, this policy will be updated first and any new data sharing will be disclosed and consented to inside the app.
